WIP Progress Report: January 2024

It’s time for the monthly progress report, where on the first Monday of the month, I share where I am with my WIPs aka Work(s)-In-Progress. Let’s dive in, shall we?

I was so certain this would be a pointless post. Like, I wasn't even going to bother because it didn't feel as if I wrote anything at all in December with all the holiday chaos.

However, I double checked and I'm pleasantly surprised!

Quick recap ICYMI: I'm working on 3 of the last (for now) Carolina Rebels books, featuring Zane Landry, Derek Novak, and Cal Kessy.

Now, onto the nitty gritty.

I only increased Zane's slightly, going from 50% complete to 53%, but I'll certainly take it. I've been slightly stuck, trying exactly to figure out how I want to tackle the next part I have planned, so that has slowed me down a little. I also keep going back and forth on a kinda crazy aspect that I added and then took out and honestly, at this point, I don't remember if I decided to keep it again or not. That's how scattered my brain is! But the great thing about writing is I can re-read my stuff and soak it all in before I dive back in to writing more of their story.

So, that's Zane's update.

Then, I looked at Derek's WIP because Derek is always on my mind. Seriously. Derek and Nicole have been in my head talking sporadically since the beginning of the series. That's since 2016! So it's not really surprising that since I'm finally writing their story I'm a tad obsessed with it, just because it's finally here. This will be one of those best friend's sister tropes, because if you'll remember, Derek was introduced in EJ's book, Worth the Risk

The last update I shared about Derek was back in October and shame on me because I've apparently been working on him more than I thought! I went from 48% complete in October to 64%!

This is fabulous and a relief because I'm hoping to start releasing the trio in 2024, but I need to get all of them complete, or nearly so. Mostly because I keep flip-flopping on Cal's timeline, so I need to wait to make sure the timeline makes sense and is consistent since I can't make up my mind. I just really need to also put time in on Cal's WIP at some point because he doesn't have much there at this point.

That's really all I've got. I'm hoping January will bring more progress than the last two months of 2023 and I think I can accomplish that.

As always, you for your support.

Until next time, happy reading.
