bold as love series

Let's Celebrate!

I have a big birthday this month and I want to celebrate with you! Each week, I'm going to focus on a series, hopefully share some fun stuff, and have giveaways, of course!

This week is all about the Bold as Love series.

Sweetness was my debut book, so it's exciting to take a moment and go back to the beginning. Sweetness is the first of five in the completed series. Jake and Emily begin the series in high school and we follow along through college and the years after. I started writing this couple as a way to escape my anxiety, which at the time was uncontrollable and the worst it’s ever been.

At the suggestion from a friend, I began my journey with self-publishing. Three years later, thanks to Jake and Emily and their story, I’m still going strong and loving every minute of what they’ve brought into my life.

So, that’s a little background.

Here's what Sweetness is about:
Emily wished she was invisible. But after moving to a new town with her dad, a charming boy makes it impossible for her to disappear. Despite her feelings of unworthiness, Emily soon finds herself drawn to the safety of Jake's world.

Good looking and the star of the hockey team, Jake has a lot going for him. What most people don't see is the difficult life he has at home. When quiet Emily steals his heart, Jake vows to help her discover she is worthy of love.

Just when the two of them realize the sweetness of their relationship, they are put to the test. Only together can they overcome their haunted pasts to fight for a future together.

You can follow this link to learn more about each individual book. Add the series on Goodreads. And in case you didn't know, Sweetness is free! Be sure to grab it if you haven't already! You can check out the series on AmazoniBooksB&NKobo, or Smashwords.

Be sure you enter the giveaway for chances to win the complete series in ebooks or any one ebook from the series!

Teaser Tuesday - Our Happily Ever After

This is the final teaser! I can't believe that Our Happily Ever After will release in less than a week! I hope you are just as excited as I am and that these teasers have helped get you excited. In case you missed it, check out the firstsecondthirdfourth, and fifth teaser! Again, please remember that this is unedited and may not appear as such in the final version.

It's in Jake's POV. He's away on a trip and he's calling Emily to check in. I think this is the perfect teaser to end with. Enjoy!

"I'm thinking that since this may be the last time I have the house to myself for a while that I should walk around naked. What do you think?”
Laughing, memories of when we stayed at the cabin that one weekend surge to the surface. “I'm thinking that if you're going to walk around naked, I should be there to see it.”
“You're the one who chose to go to the freaking Hockey Hall of Fame without me. The thought of teasing you with proof of my streak around the house has crossed my mind, but I'm not going to do that.”
“What kind of proof?”
“Doesn't matter now, love. What time does your flight come in tomorrow?”
“Six,” I answer, but my mind is lost with images of her naked body beneath mine. I am so ready to get home. Better yet, I'm more than ready to make her my wife.

Don't forget that I'm giving away six e-ARCs of OHEA. It ends soon and it's really easy to enter with ways to earn extra entries. One of the extra entires is to pin this on one of your Pinterest boards!

You must be 13 years of age or older. By entering the giveaway, you are stating that you are of age. Please note that all six winners will be chosen Wednesday, January 8, 2014. I will email each of the winners after the giveaway is over. Winners will have 48 hours to respond to my email or another winner will be chosen. Please see the Terms and Conditions in the Rafflecopter giveaway for full details.

What Will 2014 Bring? Plus, the Cover for Our Happily Ever After!

I have been brainstorming and planning new things for 2014 since August. I'm so excited to tell you all about what is coming in this new year. It's a bit long of a post, so I will love you if you read all of it! Especially the last part. But first, I would like to reveal the cover for Our Happily Ever After.

I hope you love it as much as I do. I can't wait to share it with y'all! January 13th is right around the corner!

So what all is happening in 2014, you ask? Keep reading to find out!

New Stories and New Characters
I have a 2014 Release Goal Schedule, which means I have tons of stories planned for 2014! I've been busy working on those since I finished OHEA. Once these projects are closer to completion, I'll start announcing what exactly they are. For now, I'll give a sentence and one word hint for both of my major projects.
  1. One is a series that will consist of six novellas. One word hint: Holidays.
  2. One is a stand-alone that I've been working on for most of December with characters who are more than meets the eye. One word hint: Sexy (<according to Mary Smith haha!)
I hope you're ready to meet new characters, because I'm dying to share them with y'all!

My Monthly Newsletter
I've already announced that this is being revamped. I sent out the first newsletter today and I hope you are all enjoying the new features. Visit this page to subscribe and learn more to about what you would receive by signing up.

National Mental Health Awareness Month
I wanted to do something last year, but thought of it too late to really do anything. NMHAM occurs in May and I'm planning various things to do during that month. But I need your help! To get things organized with an ample amount of time, I'm starting to get things together this month. Please share with anyone you think would be interested to make this a success!

Throughout May, I would like to share two types of guest posts.

I'm looking for authors for a feature tentatively called Anxious Authors. I would like to have authors write about their experiences with mental health and why they would like to raise awareness. They could share something that happened to them or someone else. If you are an author or know someone who would be interested in this, please fill out this form and I will contact you soon.

I'm looking for readers for a feature tentatively called Nervous Readers. The premise is the same, but I want to hear from readers and would like for them to include any books they've read that helps make them more aware of mental health or helped them through a situation. If you are a reader and interested in this, please fill out this form and I will contact you soon.

If you know of any fiction books that feature main characters with a mental disorder, please submit it here! Bonus points if the characters suffer from depression or anxiety, as that's my central focus. I will be taking submissions until mid-April.

There is more that I plan to do, which I will tell about closer to May. A group will be created on Facebook too once things start coming together. If you would like to help out in any way, please send me an email!

That's about it. Happy New Year, y'all!

Teaser Tuesday - Our Happily Ever After

It's time to share our fifth teaser! In case you missed it, check out the firstsecondthird, and fourth teaser! This is our second to last teaser! We're getting so close to the release! Again, please remember that this is unedited and may not appear as such in the final version.

This is in Emily's POV. It's shorter than the others, but I hope you still enjoy it!

I climb in next to him, but lay with my back facing him. “Night.”
He's quiet for a few minutes before he finally finds his voice. It's deep and throaty, which means he's feeling emotional right now. “Emily, what are we doing?”
“We are behaving like normal, Jake. Only I'm you and you're me. Have fun with that.” I close my eyes and ignore anything else he says. Soon, I'm able to fall asleep.

As I previously said, I'm giving away six e-ARCs of OHEA. It's really easy to enter with ways to earn extra entries.

Teaser Tuesday - Our Happily Ever After

It's time to share our fourth teaser! In case you missed it, check out the firstsecond, and third teaser! Again, please remember that OHEA is currently with my editor. This is unedited and may not appear as such in the final version.

This is in Jake's POV and he's gotten himself in a bit of trouble with Emily.

Gently, I shake her awake. Her eyes open, zoom in on me, and then she glares.
You're late,” she says, sitting up.
I know.”
Really late.” Emily stands and goes to our room.
I turn off the lights behind her. “I know,” I repeat, softly.
Not even a phone call,” she says over her shoulder as she starts to change clothes and gets ready for bed.
I'm sorry.” That doesn't even begin to cover it.
“Why? It's not like I asked you to be here. It's not like it's my birthday. It's not like I spent my afternoon getting blood out of clothes. It's not like,” her voice raises, “I was home with your brother who suffered from a concussion earlier today!” She yanks her hairbrush through her hair, not even looking at me.

As I previously said, I'm giving away six e-ARCs of OHEA. It's really easy to enter with ways to earn extra entries. One of the extra entires is to pin this on one of your Pinterest boards!

Teaser Tuesday - Our Happily Ever After

It's time to share our third teaser! In case you missed it, check out the first and second teaser! Again, please remember that OHEA is currently with my editor. This is unedited and may not appear as such in the final version.

This one is in Emily's POV. Enjoy!

C'mere.” He takes my hand and pulls slightly. I stand and walk over to him to take a seat in his lap. “Will you be happier if I let you touch my beard? I know how much you love it,” he grins, taking my hand and lifting my fingers to his jaw.
I run my fingers over the rough hair and smile. “I have to ask permission now? Is a little facial hair that special?” Pressing a kiss to his chin, he chuckles and I can feel his stomach move with his laugh. There is nothing that I love more than being with my love. A seriousness falls over me as I rest my forehead against his and say, “I could sit with you forever and be completely happy, you know that?” I search his green eyes, hoping that he realizes the truth in my statement.
Jake speaks in that sexy, deeper-than-usual voice that is a dead give away to how strongly he feels about whatever he's about to say. “That's all I want. For my Sweetness to be happy. Bonus points if I'm the one making you happy.”

As I previously said, I'm giving away six e-ARCs of OHEA. It's really easy to enter with ways to earn extra entries. One of the extra entires is to pin this on one of your Pinterest boards!

Teaser Tuesday - Our Happily Ever After

It's Tuesday and that means it's time for the second Our Happily Ever After teaser! In case you missed it, check out the first teaser here! Again, please remember that OHEA is currently with my editor. This is unedited and may not appear as such in the final version.

This time it's in Jake's POV.

I suck, don't I?” It's the best I can manage to say right now.
What? No! We both suck if anyone does. You always won the Boyfriend of the Year Award, you always win the Fiancé of the Year Award, and I'm positive that you'll win the Husband of the Year Award every,” she kisses me, “single,” another kiss, “year.” Yet another kiss. “When the time comes, you'll definitely win the Father of the Year Award.”
That's an awful lot of awards,” I smile. Sweetness giggles and I continue, running my fingers up her sides. “I'm just going to give you one every year, okay?” My voice tones down to a whisper and when Emily speaks, she matches it.
What's that?”
“Most Amazing Person Ever Award.”

All together now: *sigh*

As I said last time, I'm giving away six e-ARCs of OHEA. It's really easy to enter with ways to earn extra entries. One of the extra entires is to pin this on one of your Pinterest boards!

Teaser Tuesday - Our Happily Ever After

I'm so, so, SO excited about this book! Today, I'm sharing the first teaser for Our Happily Ever After, the fifth book in the Bold as Love series. I will be sharing a teaser every Tuesday leading up to the release. In total, there will be six teasers. Please remember that OHEA is currently with my editor. This is unedited and may not appear as such in the final version.

Okay, enough talking! Let's get to the teaser already! This is in Emily's POV and our lovely couple is discussing wedding details.

“Um, we need to make the guest list.” I turn to another sheet and write Guest List at the top. “Oh! I need to know one thing.”
“What's that?”
“In which state are we getting married?”
Jake laughs for the first time in two months and it's so good to hear. “That is very important, isn't it? Either way, people are going to be flying.”
“True. I've actually been thinking about the Outer Banks.”
“That sounds great, Sweetness. Let's do that.”

And that is why there is a picture of the Outer Banks on the Bold as Love Series Pinterest board. Add it on Goodreads now!

Because I'm so excited, I'm giving away six e-ARCs of OHEA. It's really easy to enter with ways to earn extra entries. One of the extra entires is to pin this on one of your Pinterest boards!

Updates All Around!

The past few weeks, I've only posted Monday's Book Spotlight. It's about time to give an update post. There are lots of things to talk about! Let's get this show on the road, shall we?

Writing-wise, things are up and down. I've been bouncing between four solo projects and my co-authored projects as well. You can see the update for the latter here. (Psst. My co-author, Mary Smith, just had her first solo book released. Go check out Melting Away the Ice on Amazon!) Either I'm writing like crazy in one or I'm switching from one to another, or I'm not writing at all. For the most part, progress is being made.

A good chunk of book five has been written and if I pick up my pace, just a little, I can release it in the month I have planned. It's still my top priority and hopefully, I can share some snippets of it with you soon.

As of yesterday, I hit the one month mark since school started. I survived the first month and I plan on making it through the next month. Things with school have been going really well. I have my schedule set up in a way that taking seven classes isn't too overwhelming. My schedule will soon be tweaked again because I now have a job. I'm feeling really good about things though. To have had only one panic attack so far is a feat in itself and I'm certain that things are only going to get better.

The last update isn't really an update, but who cares? Hockey season will be starting soon and I will be going to two games next month. One to see the Blackhawks vs. Hurricanes and then to see my Penguins vs. Hurricanes. I am so excited about this! It's going to be awesome, as always.

Okay. There you have it. Have an amazing weekend, y'all!

For a limited time...

On Monday, Always released on Amazon. For a limited time, you can purchase the fourth installment in other e-formats on Smashwords. I'm unsure how long I'll keep it on Smashwords at this time, but I did want to give those who don't read on Kindle an opportunity to get a copy.

If you do miss the chance, please remember that you can download the Kindle app on many devices and read that way. You do not have to have a Kindle to read Kindle books.

It's Release Day!!

Hey y'all! I hope everyone had a great weekend. I know I did in Virginia. (Gas is $2.87 at one place!) I just got home, so that's why this is posting so late in the day.

Anyway, the news you've all been waiting to hear. Always has released! Right now, it's only available on Kindle. You can grab your copy here
Thanks to each and every one of you who has been patient with Jake and Emily's return. It's been a long year, but they are back! I've already started working on the next one and a good little portion of it is already done. If all goes well, I'm hoping to finish up the series by the end of 2014.

I have a ton of other projects that I'm really excited to start, but I want to finish up their story first. There are some other books (besides theirs) that will be releasing over the course of the next year. The only others that I currently have planned and announced is the coauthored books, The Penalty Kill Trilogy. You can add the first book to your Goodreads here

Again, thank you for supporting me because you make a day like today so special and mean so much. I hope you enjoy the fourth installment!

I'll leave by asking a favor. If you read Always, please leave a review on Amazon/Goodreads. It really means a lot and I love hearing what you think about my books!

Have a great day, y'all!

I'm in a light slumber when someone jumps on the bed. That someone is Jake.
Sweetness, wake up!”
I'm awake!” I grumble.
Sweets, guess what that phone call was about?”
Sweets? What the hell? Jake, I was almost asleep.”
I like Sweets. And I'm in an extremely good mood. Don't you want to know why?”

***

When are we getting cable and internet, love?” she asks before even saying hello.
Yeah, when are we, love,” Drake teases.

***

This place is buzzing with anticipation as everyone waits for the procession to begin. I don't know why, but I'm extremely edgy. My mindset feels like we're here for this wonderful day and something is going to ruin it. Shatter the picture that will forever remain in our hearts. The picture that should be entirely perfect.
This is the day that will forever change our lives. This is the day that we will remember always. Then why am I dreading it?

***

Daddy,” I start, keeping my voice sugary sweet.
Don't go there with me, Emily. I won't allow it.”

***

The hotel room starts to get the feel of a bunch of chickens running around with their head cut off as everyone continues to get ready. Mostly Emily though. She didn't want to dirty up her dress so she's wearing pajamas for now. As it gets closer to the time for us to leave, she comes to pass me to go into the bathroom to change. I catch her by the elbow.
Sweetness, relax.”
Her eyes dart back and forth between mine before she lets out a flutter of breath. “Sorry. I'm just a little nervous.”
Everything's going to be fine. It's a good day, remember?”
Sweetness nods in affirmation and I kiss her forehead before releasing her elbow.
