Lindsay's (Mis)Adventures in Sewing & Quilting: 2018 Goals

Lindsay's(Mis)Adventuresin Sewing &Quilting.png

I haven't talked much about my 2018 goals in general, but I thought it might be nice to make a list of my goals in this area. After all, it'll give me a to-do list of sorts and a way of knowing for sure if I accomplished the minimum of what I hoped to do for the year when it comes to sewing and quilting.

Without further ado, here's the 2018 Goals:

- I recently bought a kit to make a 69x90 inch quilt and I want to start and finish that this year. (I posted a picture of it in Lindsay's League.)

- Bartley is still waiting on his quilt. I want to at least figure out what I want to make for him and maybe get the materials at the very least as well.

- I want to do at least six rows from the Row by Row trips I've made (three from 2016 and three from 2017).

- Create some sort of system where I know what kits and patterns I have, what I haven't done, and what I have done.

Other than that, I just want to have fun and continue learning.

What are your 2018 goals?

Hello, 2017!

The new year is upon us and I'm looking forward to 2017! Not even going to lie, the most exciting and equally dreadful thing about this year is that it's my final year of school. It's exciting because it's my last year. It's dreadful because I still have this one last year.

But enough of that! Let's talk about other things I'm looking forward to as well as some goals.

I'm looking forward to traveling to Pittsburgh next month with my mom to go to the outdoor game (*faints*) and then we'll be back the very next weekend for the Angels and Sirens signing. Be sure to check out details about that! I'll be going to Detroit in March for a hockey game. I'll also be in Raleigh in August for For the Love of Books and Raleigh signing. At some point, I'm supposed to plan a trip down to Florida to visit my brother, too. That's all the traveling I have scheduled right now. I wouldn't mind adding one more trip. Maybe a cruise?

I'm hoping to have 6 releases this year. Most will be in the Carolina Rebels series. :) Y'all already know about Because It's You and I'll be announcing the next two soon. My writing goal this year to be more disciplined. I did semi-well in 2016 in starting to be more disciplined, but I can do better and I need to keep aiming to do so. I also want to plot a new series. Don't worry! It wouldn't start releasing until 2018 and all I'll say about it is that it won't be a hockey romance series. I have a little bit of everything in our future, but 2017's focus is more about planning those books while still focusing primarily on my Rebels. That's all I'm willing to say because things change too often and I'd rather not say too much until it's basically a sure thing. :)

Moving on!

My reading goal this year is 100 books. Since I couldn't meet the same number as 2015 in 2016, I figured my safest bet is 100 books. That's roughly 8 books a month and I think I can do that. I'm going to keep doing the Paperback Pick of the Month and I'm going to try to read an additional paperback per month to get through my massive stack of unread books.

The same goes for those ebooks I have. Let's not even disclose the number of unread ebooks I have. But I did discover that I usually read the books I recently bought/books that recently released, so when I couldn't decide and started my new system of choosing a random letter of the alphabet and then a random book on my Kindle that started with that letter, I read some books that I've had for way longer. I'm going to try to read at least three books a month with that method.

I'm hoping to bring the good habits I started in 2016 into 2017 and keep going strong. That's really it for me and 2017. What are your reading goals? What are you hoping to accomplish in 2017? Where are you hoping to travel?

2016 Goals & Plans

It's Day One of 2016, and I'm excited! As promised from my 2015 Recap post, I want to share my goals and plans for the year.

Reading Goals
Last year, my goal was to read 100 books, and I read 112. This year, I'm aiming for 120 books. That seems like a good increase that isn't too much higher than what I was able to read in 2015. I'm also hoping to read my Paperback Picks each month.

Writing Goals
IF all goes as planned, then I'll release five solos this year. I already have my YA Romance, Bending Under Pressure, pretty much ready to go. The next is Brittany & Trace's story, which will happen in two books and is an Anxiety/Depression NA Romance. After that, I plan to launch a new hockey romance series, Carolina Rebels, which will start with Noah & Meredith's book. And to finish off the year, a story where there's an age difference.

Last year, I experimented with having self-imposed deadlines. Turns out, deadlines are meant to be missed where I'm concerned. In 2016, I'm tossing out deadlines, but keeping my tentative plans. The key words being tentative and plans. I don't want to feel pressured or feel rushed. Considering I can make my own schedule, it only makes sense that I do so in a way that truly works for me. My goal for 2016 is to not freakout if I have to rearrange some things or if I'm taking longer than I'd like to get something done.

Traveling Plans
I'll be leaving for a short trip to Pittsburgh on Monday, and then Mary & I are hitting up Dallas in March and Chicago in the fall. I'll also be going on a Alaskan cruise research trip. Lastly, I'll be heading to Charlotte for Carolina Book Bash in October. I'm so excited about all those trips, and hopefully, I'll be planning a vacation at some point. It's going to be a busy year, and I'll need to make time to take a break.

Personal Goals
I have no idea what I want to accomplish personally. I'll be going to school part-time in the fall to be able to focus more on my writing. This allows me to keep going to school, but lowers the stress that comes from being a full-time student and a full-time writer. I feel like 2015 was a great year personally, and if I could just maintain doing well, then I'll be happy. I'm constantly growing and evolving, and I'm hoping 2016 is the year where I continue to do so.

That's it for me! What are some of your goals and plans for 2016?

Because I Like Making Lists & Goals

The first day of summer is June 21. That's practically right around the corner! I can't believe how fast this year has flown by. It seems like just yesterday I was having to remember to write 2013 and not 2012. Back to the point of this post, I figured I would make a list of goals for the summer for two reasons.

One, as the title of this post states, I like making lists and goals.

Two, I'm going back to college in the fall and I need to get some things accomplished before I start school. I'm planning on taking 7 classes (4 online, 3 face-to-face) and I'm not sure how busy it will keep me. The summer is going to be the time for me to get what I want to do this year done, especially with school taking over in August.

So what's on my list of goals?

  • Have the fifth installment of the Bold as Love series ready for edits.
  • Finish the first draft of Kelly Price's story. (This is the Untitled WIP that I pin about on Pinterest.)
  • Read 25 books.
  • Get a job. (A part time job means I don't have to be on a book buying ban! How bad is it that I need a job to support that addiction? Darn that one-click option!)
That seems like more than enough for now. I'm going to be super busy between those goals and working on the new project with Mary Smith. I'm very excited about it all though. I'll have an update post on September 21, which is the last day of summer, to let you all know how well I did with my goals!
