Bracing the Blue Line - Fun Fact 11

Well, here we are. A day before the big day with the very last fun fact. I hope you've enjoyed seeing them all and learning a bit more about how this book came to be.

This is so, so true. I don't have a favorite. There's no way I could choose between my guys!

You can add Bracing the Blue Line to your to-read shelf and enter a giveaway on Goodreads. It's the last day to enter, so go, go, go! It's also the last day to pre-order for the special price of $2.99 on Amazon, iBooks, B&N, or Kobo. The price will go up, so go save some money and pre-order it now!

While I don't have favorite, you might be able to choose one. I'll leave you and the last fun fact with this:

Captain Neil Lawson
Goalie Grant Faison
Defenseman Winston Brooks
Who will be your favorite?

Bracing the Blue Line - Fun Fact 7

As promised, today's fun fact is about Grant. If you missed the first, second, third, fourthfifth, or sixth, go check them out!

Many of you know that I live in North Carolina. The second or third fun fact said that part of Grant and Lucy's story was written before any of the others and that I wanted to start with their names first, then think of a story.

Well, Lucy's last name (Kennedy) just seemed natural. It flowed and I was in love with it immediately. I was already imagining the different personality traits she could have, and what her background might be, and why Grant was going to start doing those small favors for her.

Grant's last name honestly happened by accident almost. I went out with an old friend and drove by that town. I tested it in my head and then spoke it out loud and then boom. Grant had a last name.

Tomorrow's fun fact will be about Neil, so be sure to check back tomorrow and continue following the BtBL Pinterest board for daily teasers.

Bracing the Blue Line - Fun Fact 3

It's day 3 of Fun Facts! If you missed them, check out the first and second. If you're ready to see the third fun fact, then keep reading!

One day last year, I changed things up a bit. Instead of thinking of a story idea or characters first, I wanted names first. I wanted to build characters and a story simply from their names. I came up with Grant Faison and Lucy Kennedy. From there, a story grew.

It was going to be my first male-only POV book, but I found it extremely difficult to get very far without wanting to get inside Lucy’s head. So, for a while, I would skip ahead to certain scenes and write those in Grant’s POV. After a while, it seemed I was going nowhere fast with a bunch of scenes, but nothing to connect them together. I set it aside and started working on You Before Me.

Then, I decided to start Winston and Maddie’s story, only that wasn’t quite working out either. (You’ll learn more in tomorrow’s fun fact.) After a bit of brainstorming, I decide that Winston and Grant should come together in one story. It took a while to figure out details on how to make it work, which is how Neil got added to the mix.

Long story short, Grant and Lucy unsurprisingly waited until things clicked for me, so I could tell their story in Grant’s POV like it should be told.

Check back tomorrow for another BtBL Fun Fact! Be sure to continue following the BtBL Pinterest board for daily teasers.

What's in the Swag Pack?

Yesterday, I posted on Facebook that I might share what will be in the Bracing the Blue Line swag pack. And I nearly forgot to post it today!

So, why am I sharing what's in the swag pack? Because I'm evil and I want you to see it now, even though you won't get a chance to win one until release day. Plus, I'm way too excited to keep this to myself.

So, here it is!

There's a BtBL t-shirt. That's the front and the back has the cover and my blog link.

We have the paperback and bookmark, of course.

The remaining three items tie in to each character.

That black, round thing? It's a hockey puck-shaped stress ball and that's for Neil. It says, "Pace the room with Neil Lawson" because he's a pacer when he's stressed. And Neil has a lot to be stressed about! If you aren't sure why, let me refer to this line in the blurb: "Captain Neil Lawson wants to run for the hills when a one night stand shows up on his doorstep, pregnant with his baby. "

Below that is a library card and card pocket. That's for Grant for two reasons. 1. He loves to read. 2. He's in the library quite often, which is one place where Lucy keeps finding him.

To the left is a retro popcorn box and a bag of popcorn tied together with a movie night ribbon. That's for Winston. All I can really say is that he and Maddie start watching movies together when she's missing home.

So, there you have it! As I said, the first chance to win one of these is via the Release Day Email through my monthly newsletter. If you haven't signed up yet, you can do so here. Be sure to say YES to wanting to receive the email on release days and you'll automatically be entered to win a swag pack!

Bracing the Blue Line is available for preorder on AmazonKoboB&N, or iBooks for the special price of $2.99! Be sure to add it to your to-read shelf on Goodreads as well!

It's time to learn about the next book!

Today is the day, y'all. I already shared a little about the guys' book in this blog post and now, I'm about to tell you the title and release date! For the fun of it, why don't I go ahead and share the synopsis too?! Just for you, I'm stepping out of my comfort zone for the sake of spicing things up (AKA not doing a regular blog post).

So, let's all take a deep, calming breath and watch this vlog.

Go to the page for this book to read the description and be sure to add it to your to-read shelf on Goodreads.

Quick note for my newsletter subscribers: I accidentally put the incorrect date in July's newsletter. Disregard that date, because September 27th is the correct one.

Thanks for stopping by! We can all excitedly wait together for release day to come. :)

Let's play: Guess That Title! (A Giveaway)

This Saturday, I’m announcing some info on the next book. I’m so excited and so tempted to just tell you everything right this minute.

But patience is a good thing to have, right?

Right.

Therefore, we’re waiting. In the meantime, what I will do is give you the first letter of each word in the title. What I want you to do is come up with a title with those letters in the order I present them. You could try to guess the title based on what you know so far, or you can think of something funny with it, whatever. Just create a title(s) with it.

To make it even more fun, I’ll throw in an e-ARC of the book to one person who comments. I’ll announce the winner when I reveal the title and all that jazz.

Here are the letters: B t B L

Good luck! Be sure to read the fine print below for the rules/guidelines/etc!

-You must be 13 years of age or older to enter.
-You must use the letters in a title in the order they are given.
-You must comment on this post for your entry to be eligible. You can list as many titles as you wish, but they must be in one comment, which serves as each person’s only entry.
-If you are one of my beta readers, you are not allowed to enter.
-If you are one of the few that do know the title, you are not allowed to comment with the title.
-Once a winner is announced, said winner will have the following 48 hours to email me or another winner will be chosen.
-Winner will not receive the e-ARC until August 1st or later. (Only adding the "or later" in case something comes up and it's not ready by then.)
-I have the right to end this giveaway at any time without any notice. I have the complete discretion to operate this giveaway as I deem fit.
