Bracing the Blue Line - Fun Fact 4

The fun facts continue! If you missed them, check out the firstsecond, and third.

As I mentioned yesterday, Winston’s and Maddie’s story wasn’t quite working out on it’s own two feet. It evolved a few times before I merged their story with Grant’s and eventually, Neil’s. After that, it progressed and changed more and more.

Every time I thought I had it all figured out, something else didn’t seem right to me. At one point, what was wrong with Winston’s story kept me from writing the other characters' stories. So, I tweaked and tweaked and tweaked, and tweaked some more.
Then, finally!
I fixed all the little bugs that were bothering me. I'm really happy with all those changes and hopefully, you'll enjoy them too.

Bracing the Blue Line - Fun Fact 1

To countdown the days until release, I thought I would share a fun fact every day about Bracing the Blue Line. Hope you enjoy it! Here is the first one.

Way back in January, I held a Name the Next Duo contest. Picking character names can be quite hard sometimes and I thought holding a contest for readers to submit names they liked would be fun! And it was!

There were a bunch of awesome submissions, but I narrowed it down to my two favorites. Thanks to Kim C. and Jessica P. for Winston and Maddie’s name! Maybe I’ll hold another contest in the future. :)

Update on Maddie and Winston

I wanted to do a little update on the next duo, so here I am. If you remember, Maddie and Winston were the winning names from the contest. My original idea for them wasn't working out like I wanted, so I put them into another idea. The next two ideas they were placed into wasn't working for me. I want to write those stories, but I don't have the emotional energy to spend on them right now.

So Maddie and Winston were bouncing around for a bit, but they've finally found their real story. Well, I was trying to find the story I wanted to give them. What I wanted to do was keep writing characters as fun as Ryan and Gabe. Those two have me addicted to characters that are not only fun, but not always what they seem either. I've found their story and I'm hooked on them with only a few hundred words.

Okay, that's all I wanted to share! I can't wait to dive more into their story and then share them with you. :)

Winners of the Name the Next Duo Contest!

The contest is over, and it’s time to announce the winning names. Thank you so much to everyone who entered the contest! You all submitted great names and it was hard to pick two favorites. But these characters need some names, so I can get them out of my head. That said, meet the next duo:

Jessica P. submitted the girl name and Kim C. submitted the boy name. Thank you! You should have already received an email from me. If you haven't, let me know!

This pair will be featured in a six-novella series centering around one holiday per novella. That’s the basic description. I don’t want to say more until I start writing to make sure that it will work like I want and then we’ll talk release dates. I’m really excited about these characters already!
